UVU Site development
--------------------
* Will be "wire framed" first (basic template outline) via XML (which permits many formats) and design skin will be added once that is determined by Marketing.
* concept of having true audience experiences (content part of user experience not its own separate site). Example, all pages in future students have future students skin, all pages in current students has current student skin - unanimous to do this.
* we are UVU for at least the first year (no separate branding)
template reactions
-------------
A very informal poll on templates:
2 votes - diff templates but similar (change colors, small changes - but not location or method of navigation)
1 vote - different templates (completely different)
3 votes - one template (consistent - usablity - keep nav in same place; no need for separate branding)
2 votes- start with one template and then consider branching out in a controlled way after first year (just make sure its a great overall look that everyone uses)
Marketing stance is one template and maybe possibly perhaps consider branching out in a controlled way after first year.
- students like variety
- our opportunity to send out a message about our institution (UVU) - start tight first year, and perhaps relax later. Not too many options in the beginning (otherwise not able to re-brand ourselves). Consistent voice on campus.
order in which to roll site
-----------------------------
We know we plan on releasing Future Students first, but after that, what? well...
If we rolled by current usage:
-----------------------
Students (47,946 hits so far this month; 151,652 in June)
Future Students (16,360; 47,062)
Employment (9,606; 30,294)
Faculty & Staff (8,494; 28,210)
Giving (2,700; 9,430)
Visitors (1944; 6,648)
Alumni (1,074; 3,056)
way we think it should roll
-----------------------
Future students
Students
Visitors
Employment
Faculty and Staff
Giving
Alumni
Timelines for rolling each audience
------------------------------
rough concept of when areas would roll live on UVU site
Future students 12/1/07
Students 2/1/08
Visitors 3/1/08
Employment 4/1/08
Faculty and Staff 5/1/08
Giving 6/1/08
Alumni 7/1/08
note to self: run poll how easy is our site to navigate?
(to different audiences - such as parents)
The next meeting will be:
------------------------------
Date: Wednesday, July 18th
Time: 11:00 to 12:00 (right after SWAT is done for those in SWAT)
Location: Advancement Building 202
Agenda:
------------
* building out the content for Future Students (identifying areas of campus involved, assigning content creation out, determing what is critical and what is not for first release)
* determine rough timeline to meet 12/1/07 rollout target for Future Students
* proceeding with UVU current students site (getting content organization done, role of UVLink discussion)
