Roping Js

UVSC’s “Roping Js,” Jake Jarvis from Spanish Fork, Utah and Jade Anderson from Annabella, Utah, recently took the team roping title at the Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo competition. The duo began roping together in 2003 as members of the UVSC rodeo team and have been an unbeatable pair ever since.

They entered the latest roping competition leading 30 teams by 360 points and easily took first of two rounds. This win lands the “Roping J’s” and UVSC’s rodeo team a strong foothold in the College National Rodeo Finals in Casper, Wyo., June 11-16.

“They dominated the competition,” said Lewis Feild, rodeo coach at UVSC for the past six years. “They are extremely fast and can compete with anybody. They’ll have a good chance at nationals.”

Jarvis leads the UVSC rodeo team with hard work and dedication. He has been involved with rodeo competition for the past seven years and is racking up titles fast. He is the 2004 team roping heeler champion in Rocky Mountain Region and the 2005 Reserve Champion, in addition to multiple titles in local and pro rodeo. Jarvis will graduate in April with a bachelor’s degree in lineman technology and plans to continue competing after graduation.

Anderson will also graduate this spring with a degree in construction management from UVSC. He is most appreciative of the friends he made in college and the “something for everyone” environment at UVSC. Anderson holds the 2003 roping title in the Rocky Mountain Region and is the reigning Dodge Circuit Finals roping winner.
