President Sederburg Looks to the Future of UVU in State of the College Address

In UVSC President William A. Sederburg’s State of the College Address today, he mentioned the successes of last year, but primarily focused on the institution’s future.

“We had an excellent year in 2007,” he said. “We were granted university status by the Legislature and a new university mission was approved by the Board of Regents. Now it is our responsibility to look ahead set plans in motion not just for 2008, but far beyond that as well.”

What Sederburg is planning for revolves around the year 2018. Ten years from now, the President and campus administrators hope to see Utah Valley University continue to evolve as a quality institution, with a regional and national reputation for excellence.

Sederburg feels his top five goals for 2018 involve: accommodating and preparing for an increase in enrollment, approximately 30,000 students; development and implementation of multiple campuses in Lehi and Payson; continued contribution to economic development and regional stewardship; receiving Carnegie Engagement Classification, enhancing the communities of engaged learners model; and ultimately becoming the institution of first choice for engaged learners and prospective students.

“These goals will not be realized unless there is a real partnership and commitment between UVU and surrounding community members,” he said. “It is my hope that our Legislators and other supporters will continue to make UVU and its success a top priority as we head into the future.”
