Jeanette Lynton, founder and CEO of Close To My Heart, has been chosen by UVSC’s Center for the Study of Ethics to receive the Kirk Englehardt Business Ethics award. The award will be given to Lynton March 5 at 10 a.m. in the Ragan Theater. She will also address the audience on “Life lessons and Ethical Business Practices.” A reception will follow at 11 a.m. at the Trustees Suite in room 213c of the Sorensen Student Center.
Lynton started Close To My Heart, a scrapbooking direct sales company based in Pleasant Grove, Utah, in 1984. The business grew from just a few creative stamps to an exclusive line of scrapbooking products and books that are sold throughout the U.S. and Canada. Lynton has won numerous awards for her innovative products and successful business practices—most recently the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Retail and Distribution area for Utah.
Every year, the Excellence in Business Ethics award is given to an individual who exemplifies good business ethics, as well ethics in his or her personal life. “Exemplary ethics demonstrates a sustained commitment to understanding the necessity of integrity and humanity in business pursuits,” said David Keller, director for the Center for the Study of Ethics. “This individual demonstrates strengthening business ethics through fiscal responsibility, leadership, civic activity, and personal example. We believe that Jeanette Lynton exemplifies the necessary traits of the Excellence in Business Ethics award.”
As the fourth recipient of the award, Lynton joins past awardees: Professor Patricia Werhane, endowed chair at University of Virginia and DePaul University; Kim Clark, President of BYU Idaho and Joel Peterson, international corporate business developer.
The award ceremony and accompanying lecture are free and open to the public.
