Undergraduate students from across Utah will come to UVSC for the second annual Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research (UCUR) in the Sorensen Student Center Friday, Feb. 29 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“We have 244 students that will be attending,” said Marcy Glassford, administrative assistant for associate VP of undergraduate research. “A wide variety of student disciplines will be there, from dance to automotive technology to botany, physics and theater.”
Student researchers are coming from almost every institution of higher education in the state of Utah, including UVSC, BYU and the University of Utah. These students will share their research through oral presentations, poster presentations and performances. UCUR celebrates academic, professional and personal achievements resulting from undergraduate research projects or creative endeavors.
“Participating in this conference is a great way for students to identify what their fellow students are doing in research beyond their own,” said Dr. Loretta Palmer, associate VP of undergraduate research. “The skills of communication, research and synthesis are used not only in their current studies but are recognized by their future employers and graduate schools.”
As Gov. Jon M. Huntsman stated at last years event, “Utah’s undergraduate students are the leaders of the future who will be responsible and accountable for devising new ways of living and working in industry and governments.” The public is invited to view student oral presentations or visit Centre Stage for a poster walk- through.
