Sunshine, pool, shorts and learning. What do all these things have in common? Summer session at UVSC.
Summer session offers students a chance to graduate on-time or even before scheduled. Other benefits include resident tuition for all students, an opportunity to improve academic standing and the ability to concentrate on specific courses with smaller class sizes.
“Summer session gives freshman the opportunity to get started early and others a chance to catch up by repeating poorly completed classes,” said Cheryl Levi, coordinator for UVSC West. “The seven and a half week block lets students complete a class in half the time of a regular semester. And, although parking permits are required to park on campus, they are free for students registered in summer classes!”
Because summer scheduling for students usually includes full-time jobs and/or family vacations, UVSC offers many alternatives. A variety of core classes are offered at UVSC West, located in the National Guard Building at 951 South Geneva Road in Orem, during the day and evening. Additional classes are offered in the evenings at Spanish Fork High School and Weekend College, held on UVSC campus in a variety of buildings, offers classes on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
“The pressure is decreased in the summertime because of the more relaxed and informal atmosphere on campus,” said Levi. “Students have more one-on-one contact with their instructors because of the smaller class sizes. I attended summer session when I was a student and loved it for all of these reasons.”
Registration for summer session begins on March 26. For more information on classes offered and times available, visit www.uvsc.edu/summer.
