Ukrainian Ambassador Visiting UVSC

Friday, April 11, Ukrainian ambassador Oleh Shamshur is coming to UVSC to speak about Ukrainian and European leadership. The event will take place in the Woodbury Business Building, WB 106, from 2-3 p.m.

Shamshur attended Taras Shevchenko Kyiv University and majored in international relations and international law. He also received his Ph.D. in history from Kyiv University. From 2004-2006 he was the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, from 2003-2004 he was the Head of the European Union Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and from 1998-2003 he served as the Minister and Counselor of Embassy of Ukraine to the Benelux Countries.

“Shamshur is coming to UVSC because of the strong relationship UVSC has with Ukraine due to UVSC having a business program in Kyiv in the past,” said Rusty Butler, assistant vice president of international relations. “The event should be of great interest to students. We’re thrilled to have Shamshur visit because in a globally- interdependent world, chances of success for students are much greater when interacting with global leaders.”

The event is free and open to the public.
