UVSC Business Plan Competition Winners

Recently UVSC announced the winners of their annual Spring Business Plan Competition.

First place went to Joshua Solomon, from Salem, Utah and Steve Bond, from Mesa, Ariz., for their company, Integrate Systems Realtor Systems Online. Integrate Systems is a software package for realtors to help better track and utilize their customer lists.

Integrate Systems received $3,000 and is automatically entered as a semi-finalist in the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge held at the University of Utah for a chance to win $40,000. Solomon and Bond plan to use the prize money to cover business costs and will be putting it into the business.

Bancroft Bernard, from Tampa, Fla., Dewayne Hugh from Provo and Lindsay Tanner, from Cottonwood Heights, Utah, from the group Intern to Executive, were recognized as runners up. Quickline Transcriptions, consisting of Matthew Mendel, from Santa Ana, Calif., Mark Shinoda, from Santa Ana, Calif., Joshua Mendel, from Santa Ana, Calif. and Matt Perlick, from Ashburn, Va., were also runners up. Semi-finalists include Campus Flea Market by Devin Robinson, from South Jordan, Utah and Home Concepts Consulting by Andy Welch, from Sandy, Utah, Joe Nunemaker, from Brentwood, Calif. and Mitch Rigby, from Sandy, Utah.

“UVSC holds a business plan competition every year to encourage students to write down their ideas and make them happen,” said Peter Robinson, professor of business management.

Any student at UVSC can enter the competition, which is held every year. All teams must be organized and directed by a UVSC student. The competition is sponsored by UVSC’s Entrepreneur’s Club and the Entrepreneurship Institute at UVSC in the Woodbury School of Business.
