Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to Stop at UVSC

Take a trip to vast lakes, explore the highest mountains and escape reality. UVSC is hosting the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 and 13 in the Ragan Theater.

“This is the seventh year that we’ve hosted the festival,” said Kimberly Reynolds, UVSC’s outdoor adventure center coordinator. “We continue to bring it back down because it’s an amazing film festival, especially for people that are into mountain sports.”

The films feature rock climbing, base jumping, kayaking and white water rafting as well as skiing. The festival takes place in Banff, Canada where they receive more than 300 film entries to judge from. Reynolds describes it as the Sundance of mountain films.

“You get a good taste of everything,” said Reynolds. “The quality of films range from a group of friends filming in their garage to National Geographic quality. We get to see those who won from the various categories.”

Tickets can be purchased for $9 a person at the Outdoor Adventure Center in the Sorensen Student Center, SC103h. Don’t forget to pick up a set of tickets for both nights, since each night will show a different selection of films.
