NY Times Reporter, Ethan Bronner, Speaks on "War and Terror"

New York Times reporter Ethan Bronner will be speaking on “War and Terror: How the NY Times Covers Today’s Big Global Conflicts” February 11 from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Faculty Seminar Room, LC 243.

Bronner became deputy foreign editor of The New York Times March 2004. Before that, Bronner served as assistant editorial page editor of The Times since 2002 where he concentrated on foreign affairs, the law and education.

Before joining The Times, Bronner was with The Boston Globe from 1985 until 1997. He went on to become a Supreme Court and legal affairs correspondent in Washington, D.C., and a Middle East correspondent based in Jerusalem.

Throughout the autumn of 2001, Bronner worked as an editor in The Times’ investigative unit, focusing on the attacks of Sept. 11. A series of articles on Al Qaeda that he helped edit was awarded the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for explanatory journalism.

Bronner is the author of “Battle for Justice: How the Bork Nomination Shook America,” which was chosen by The New York Public Library as one of the 25 best books of 1989.

“This is a wonderful time to hear from a reporter from one of the most prestigious newspapers, what it’s like to be surrounded by war and political conflicts regarding war and terror,” said David Keller, professor of philosophy. “This lecture is very timely and relevant due to the ongoing war and terror our country is facing.”

The event is free and open to the public.
