UVSC’s Forensics Program, a debate and speech-based program, will host the 3rd Annual Wolverine Classic Invitational at UVSC’s Orem Campus February 15-16.
The Invitational is open to high school students in all of Utah and is a preparatory tournament for Region and State competitions. It will feature five preliminary and two to three elimination rounds in Policy, Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum. There will also be two preliminary rounds and one elimination round of Congress, Impromptu, Spar, Duo Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Oratory, Prose, Poetry and, if entries warrant, Valentine’s Impromptu.
It is the hope of Shiela Heindel, adjunct professor with UVSC’s Department of Communications, that students will come to participate in the Invitational and will become interested in attending UVSC as well as gain competition experience.
High school forensics coaches with students interested in attending the event should submit entries by 5 p.m. on February 6. Late registration will be accepted no later than 5 p.m. on February 13. For more information on how to register and the schedule of events, contact UVSC’s Communications Office at (801) 863-8452.
