David Irvine to Discuss Torture in the U.S. Military

Unconventional interrogation techniques or torture? Come decide at the UVSC monthly ethics forum where David Irvine, a retired Brigadier General and Military Professor is speaking on, “Tortured Times for American Values,” Wednesday Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Faculty Seminar Room, LC 243.

“We are honored to have David Irvine accept our invitation to come to campus,” said Associate Professor of Philosophy David R. Keller. “He has given a lot of thought on the use of torture in the global war on terror.”

Irvine was commissioned in the U.S. Army Reserve as a strategic intelligence officer in 1967 then later retired as a Brigadier General. Irvine also comes from 18 years of experience teaching prisoner of war interrogation and military law for the Sixth United States Army Intelligence School.

The event is free and open to the public.
