UVSC’s Contemporary Dance Ensemble presents “IMPRINTS,” November 8-10 in the Ragan Theater. Featured at the concert are the works of Artistic Director and UVSC faculty Doris Hudson-Trujillo, UVSC Assistant Professor Angela Banchero Kelleher, and internationally recognized choreographers Lynne Wimmer and Heidi Henderson.
Contemporary Dance Ensemble recently returned from their New York City gala performance of Hudson-Trujillo’s work “Resilire,” at the prestigious American Dance Guilds 51st Festival. “Resilire,” an abstract piece which explores the breadth of challenges that impact and redirect our energies and ultimately our lives, will be performed on the concert as well as Hudson-Trujillo's, “Between Two Breaths,” a piece which celebrates the resiliency of the human spirit, and “Passages,” a new work which looks at the imprints of beliefs, relationships and events that have the power to transform us.
The concert will also feature Banchero-Kelleher's, “Fanfare for the Common Man,” a piece about the struggle to make sense of society’s willingness to ignore the plight of the less fortunate in the name of adversity as a character builder, and Wimmer’s, “Refrigerator Art 2,” a work which integrates dance, text and media using childhood memories as a vehicle to understand self.
Tickets may be purchased at Campus Connection, located in the student center, or at (801)863-8797. Prices are $9 for students and faculty, $11 for the general public. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the Ssejinja Children’s Foundation, which supports orphaned children of Uganda.
