Renowned Philanthropists Give UVSC Fundraising Challenge

Ira and Mary Lou Fulton, owners of Fulton Homes in Arizona and well-known philanthropists, have given a fund-raising challenge to the students, faculty, staff and alumni of UVSC.   The Arizona natives have invited all of the individual schools at UVSC to set and accomplish a fund-raising goal by the end of 2006.  If the goals set by the individual schools are met, the Fultons will match the amount of each school’s goal.

"We are excited about the involvement of Ira and Mary Lou Fulton at UVSC,” said UVSC President William A. Sederburg.   “I believe their efforts to involve our many stakeholders will change the fund-raising culture on our campus for a long time to come."

The Fultons are part-time residents of Utah Valley and recently agreed to help UVSC with its fund-raising efforts.  They believe that those closest to the institution—students, faculty, staff and alumni--should be willing to contribute to the school.  The Fultons will match—up to $1,000 per person—donations from those groups.  Donations qualifying for the match can be made to any schools in the College or to athletics.

With a history of generosity to other Utah institutions of higher education, including BYU and the University of Utah, the Fultons hope the UVSC community will experience the first-hand joy and satisfaction that comes from giving.

"Ira and Mary Lou Fulton are passionate about educating young people,” said Val Hale, assistant Vice President of External Affairs.  “They know UVSC needs significant private financial support in order to reach its potential.  That's why they are using their matching contribution to get the UVSC family excited about donating to the College.”

Donations are accepted in any dollar amount.  The contributions can be earmarked for various things, including scholarships, academic programs and athletics.   To give to UVSC, please contact Kathy Johnson at (801) 863-6478 or visit .
