UVSC Bookstore to Host Book Signing
UVSC alumnus Joe Vogel will be at the UVSC bookstore Sept. 20 to sign his book, “Free Speech 101,” which is available regionally but will not be widely released until October 1. UVSC faculty member Nancy Peterson will also be signing her book, “Encouraging Your Child’s Writing Talent.” Both authors will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Free Speech 101” describes Vogel’s experiences after inviting Michael Moore to speak at UVSC in 2004. The book recounts the events of the ensuing outcry from the largely conservative Utah Valley population, along with his thoughts on issues his controversy helped to address.
“Sales of Vogel’s and Peterson’s books have been quite good so far,” said Marjorie Lindsey, trade book buyer for UVSC’s bookstore. “I’ve already had to reorder more in preparation for the book signing.”
“Encouraging Your Child’s Writing Talent” is a guide for parents to empower their children to see themselves as writers.
“If you expose kids to good books and literature, it will help them change the world with what they write,” said Peterson, associate professor of teacher education.
