As the Chapbook Prize winner, Carney was awarded $500 and publication in the spring 2005 issue of the nationally distributed National Poetry Review.

Carney will perform his award-winning poetry including two poems nominated for Pushcart Prizes “You Are Here →∙” and “How the Baby Seal Was Born” on March 5 at 5 p.m. in the Gallery at Universe City Department of Performing Arts in Ogden.

Carney’s poems have been published in many journals including Mid-American Review, Northwest Review and Redactions Poetry and Poetics.

“I try to recite the work I love with power and enthusiasm,” said Carney. “It is a privilege to receive honors for my poems and to share them with others.”
