UVSC Tutors to be Recognized during National Tutoring Week
Students who give of their time and talent as tutors at Utah Valley State College will be officially recognized during National Tutoring Week, October 3-7 in partnership with the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE). In addition to other activities, students will have the opportunity to write notes of appreciation to the tutors who assist them in the Academic lab in Liberal Arts, room 201.
Tutors will also be given special tokens of appreciation and recognized throughout the week. Paper and pens will be provided in the academic lab for all students who want to write their appreciation to the academic tutors. The lab is open Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
UVSC tutors help students who are enrolled in math, writing and science courses. “The tutors are good resources for the students because they have previously taken the same courses as the students they are helping,” said Kathy VanWagoner, math lab manager, “as peers they understand the needs and aspirations of the students.”
