UVSC Diesel Student Wins National Competition
Tyson Huntington, a senior from American Fork in diesel mechanics at Utah Valley State College, was selected as winner of Cummins Outstanding Diesel Student Award by Cummins Inc., one of the world’s largest diesel engine designer and manufacturers. The award includes an all-expense paid trip to the Cummins factory in Columbus, Indiana to meet factory officials and attend the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Speedway in the Cummins suite in September.
“It’s a worthy, noted award for diesel students,” said Randy Sperry, a technical service employee with Cummins Rocky Mountain. “We were impressed with Tyson’s drive and accomplishments at UVSC. He deserves to be recognized for his efforts.”
Huntington was nominated by UVSC back in April for the territory award competing with diesel students across the Rocky Mountain area of the United States, including Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Texas. Huntington won the award and was presented with a Fluke Meter, an auto ranging digital multimeter for measuring DC and AC voltage and current, resistance, continuity and diode tests. He was also selected among the territory winners from 17 territories across the United States, as one of four winners for the grand prize trip to Columbus.
