CEO of Recreational Internet Company to Speak to Students

Bruno Vassel, CEO and president of iboats.com, will be the featured speaker at the Utah Valley State College Halladay Executive Lecture Series, Thursday, March 3, at noon in the UVSC Ragan Theater.

Vassel owns the largest full-featured Internet-based company that serves both recreational boaters and marine businesses in the $26 billion dollar marine industry. The company began in 1998, as Vassel teamed up with his son Bruno in a bedroom in their home. Currently the seven-year-old company receives more than 2.5 million visitors to its Web site every month.

The company targets millions of recreational boating, fishing enthusiast and water-sport consumers throughout the United States. Vassel’s businesses was ranked by Inc. Magazine as one of the top fifty fastest growing companies. In 2004, iboats, was also awarded as the top company for growth by the MountainWest Venture Group.

The Halladay Executive Lecture Series is offered through the UVSC School of Business.

The series began spring semester 2000 with a generous donation from Reed and Christine Halladay. Reed Halladay is currently founder and partner of the $4 billion investment firm, Bel Air Investment Advisors in Los Angeles. Presentations and lectures are every Thursday at noon and are free to the public.
