Two UVSC Students elected to State Leadership Positions
Two Utah Valley State College students were recently elected to state leadership positions in the Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) club. Kevin Allred, a business management major from Pleasant Grove, Utah, will serve as President, representing roughly 250 Utah college students. Allred, the first DEX president from UVSC in more than ten years, will also coordinate the Business Partnership committee. Amy Slusser, from Temecula, Calif. majoring in hospitality management, will serve as the state Vice President representing UVSC and will coordinate the Alumni program.
DEX, the postsecondary division of DECA, is a national organization for college students, which prepares students for a variety of careers including marketing management, merchandising and entrepreneurship. DEX works to create ties with the business community in order to provide career opportunities for members and a better knowledge of the free enterprise system. DEX competitions are marketing oriented.
Colleen Vawdrey, UVSC advisor for DEX, has been working with the organization for the past eight years. “Watching the success that DEX provides for the students, sometimes beyond their own expectations, is the best part.”
