UVSC Selects New Woodbury Art Museum Director
Marcus Alan Vincent, a nationally recognized artist, will begin as the Utah Valley State College Woodbury Art Museum director on June 1, replacing Barbara Wardle who launched the Museum as a gallery in 2002. Wardle retires after 24 years in the art department at UVSC.
Vincent received a bachelor’s degree and a master of fine arts degree from Brigham Young University and certificates of study from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. He has extensive experience as an artist, gallery director and museum registrar.
“Marcus’ training and experience make him a uniquely qualified director,” said Nancy Rushforth, assistant professor of humanities. “The pool of applicants for this position was strong. As a committee, we feel that his strength reflects the reputation of the museum and of UVSC.”
The Woodbury Art Museum has recently been designated fifth in the state in overall quality of exhibits and interaction with the wider community.
“I am excited to become part of the wonderful extended UVSC family,” said Vincent. “I have already discovered great minds, great talents and great compassion among the UVSC faculty. It is my pleasure to join my efforts with theirs and make a positive contribution to both the College and to the larger Utah Valley community.”
Vincent is currently teaching at Southern Virginia University.
