Golf Tournament to Raise Money for Utah Regional Ballet

Utah Valley State College and many other prominent business in the community will help sponsor a golf tournament for in-house professional ballet company, Utah Regional Ballet (URB) July 11 at the Alpine Country Club in Highland. The tournament is open to the public for $100 a golfer, which includes a golf clinic with professional golfer Johnny Miller Jr. and lunch hosted by local company Altiris. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward URB and the annual production of The Nutcracker, which will relocate to the Scera Theatre this season after 20 years at the Brigham Young University de Jong Concert Hall.

“We will need to add to the existing production to accommodate our scenery in the Scera Theatre,” said Lana Jardine, president of the URB Board of Trustees. “We are receiving a lot of support from the community to keep The Nutcracker alive. It’s been a tradition for families in Utah County for generations.”

Registration for the tournament will begin at 7 a.m. on July 11 followed by a golf clinic with Johnny Miller Jr. at 7:15 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Entrants will be grouped into foursomes for play. Altiris CEO Greg Butterfield will host lunch following the tournament.

The Alpine Country Club is a private golf course at 4994 W. Country Club Drive in Highland.
