UVSC Graduation to be Broadcast Live
Utah Valley State College will broadcast their commencement ceremonies live online at www.uvsc.edu/broadcast/. The ceremonies, with a class of more than 3,500 students, will be held Friday April 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the UVSC McKay Events Center.
In the estimated 3,500 qualified graduates, more than 1,300 of the students qualified to receive a bachelor's degree and more than 2,200 students qualified to earn an associate's degree. The graduating class also includes approximately 147 students from foreign countries, students representing 39 states and virtually every county in the state of Utah, most notably over 2,600 students are from Utah County.
Steve Young, former NFL quarterback, will be the featured speaker at commencement. Young, along with Jill and Boyd Smith, founders of the Golden Gate Annual Scholarship, will be recognized at the ceremony with honorary doctorate degrees.
2005 Graduate Class Facts:
-Class Size (2005) is 3721 students including summer, fall and winter semesters. (Numbers to change closer to graduation)
-147 students are from foreign countries, 39 different states are represented, virtually every county in Utah is represented and 2,640 graduates are from Utah County.
-1,363 students have qualified for bachelor degrees; 2,307 students have qualified for associate degrees; 46 students have qualified for One-Year Certificates of completion; 5 students have qualified for diplomas.
-Class Size 1995: 1,671 graduates
-2004-2005 Annual Resident Tuition (15 credits) is $2,429.90 and $416 in fees totaling $2845.90.

Boyd and Jill Smith
Boyd and Jill Smith founded the Golden Gate Annual Scholarship six years ago, which sends California residents primarily of Hispanic and Pacific Island descent to UVSC with tuition, fees and living expenses paid. The Smiths have also been instrumental in furthering the strategic directions of the institution through their generosity.
Steve Young
Steve Young is most recognized as the record-setting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, but he is also a licensed attorney, an acclaimed motivational speaker, a sought-after corporate spokesperson, a supporter of numerous charities and foundations and most importantly, a dedicated husband and father.
