Utah Regional Ballet to Perform Local Favorite

Utah Regional Ballet, Utah Valley State College's professional company in residence, will perform "La Coquette" (the flirt), a lighthearted romantic comedy, March 3-4 at 7:30 p.m. in the UVSC Sorensen Student Center Ragan Theater.

"This is a fun ballet and one of the favorites," said Jackie Colledge, artistic director of URB and writer and choreographer of La Coquette. "If you have never seen a ballet before, this would be a great place to start."
The story takes place in the French countryside cottage of a mother and her four daughters in the late 1800s. The three oldest daughters are single and lonely and urge their mother to seek suitors for them. La Coquette, the youngest, wants a boyfriend too, but her mother feels she is too young to be included. But when the suitors her mother picks don't take interest in the chosen daughters, La Coquette intervenes.

Principal roles will be performed by URB's professional company dancers, Christopher Young, Brittany Moss and Deidre Diquattro. Guest dancer/actor Johnny Revill from Lehi, will be playing La Mere (the mother). Other company members from URB and URB II will be featured in the production, along with children from the community.

Immediately following Saturday's matinee, the URB Guild will host a French Festival providing children from the audience the opportunity to meet cast members and play medieval games. Light refreshments will be served.
URB will also do two special performances on March 2-3 at 10 a.m. for local elementary school field trips in the Ragan Theater.

Tickets to "La Coquette" are $12 with a $2 discount for senior citizens and UVSC faculty and students. Tickets can be purchased at UVSC Campus Connection at (801) 863-8797. Group ticket sales are also available. For more information call (801) 796-7323.
