UVSC to Launch First Twin Star Airplanes
Utah Valley State College’s Global Aviation program was recently announced as the first commercial launch customer for the Diamond Twin Star DA42-TDI in the United States. The new Twin Star features a turbo diesel as well as a Garmin1000 glass flight deck and will arrive sometime during the first quarter of 2006.
UVSC was the first college to partner with Diamond Aircraft, an international company that is the third largest general aviation manufacturer of single engine aircraft in North America, for use of flight training airplanes. Diamond is the aircraft trainer of choice for UVSC, solidifying a partnership dating back to 1995.
“To be selected as the first commercial launch customer of the Twin Star is a huge tribute to the efforts of the aviation administration here at UVSC, particularly those of Dr. Ron Smart,” said Kenny Downing, UVSC global marketing manager for aviation. “Our symbiotic relationship with Diamond throughout the years has resulted in this wonderful honor.”
The UVSC Global Aviation team recently returned from a successful show at AirVenture, the world’s largest aviation show of its kind. Hosted by Experimental Aircraft in Oshkosh, Wis., an estimated 1.2 million people attended for the weeklong events featuring speakers addressing various aspects of aviation as well as a variety of hands-on projects.
