UVSC Receives Harold B. and Fay K. Jones Endowment Scholarship

Utah Valley State College recently received funding for the new Harold B. and Fay K. Jones Endowment Scholarship, a four-year full tuition scholarship, from the Harold B. and Fay K. Jones Charitable Remainder Unitrust. This scholarship will first be awarded in the fall of 2006.

The scholarship was given in memory of Harold B. and Fay K. Jones, founders of Jones Paint and Glass. Through hard work, the couple expanded their business from a humble corner in a rented room to a manufacturing plant with six retail outlets. Their legacy of hard work will live on in part through this scholarship.

Harold was born in Monticello, Utah and spent his early childhood there. To honor his heritage the scholarship will be awarded to a Monticello High School graduate, graduating with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Those students with financial need will be given priority.

“This scholarship is going to make a dramatic impact on the small community of Monticello,” said Nancy Smith, director of stewardship and development relations. “For generations to come this scholarship will assist worthy students to reach their potential and excel in their chosen fields.”
