UVSC Hosts Benefit Concert for Hurricane Victims
The Utah Valley State College Student Service Council has coordinated and will sponsor a fundraiser concert for Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims. The concert will be Saturday, October 8 at 7 p.m. in Centre Stage in the Sorensen Center.
All proceeds from the concert will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund which will go directly to hurricane victims. The event is sponsored, organized and facilitated by UVSC students and will feature local bands, vocalists and piano players. Local businesses and UVSC departments have also donated various items to be given away at the event.
“The idea of a benefit concert came from a student who wanted to raise funds for the hurricane victims,” said Alexis Palmer, coordinator of Center for Service and Learning. “It has been said many times that money is what the hurricane victims need. This is just one way UVSC is addressing this need.”
Tickets for the benefit concert will be sold at the door and are $5 for everyone. For more information contact Alexis Palmer at (801) 863-8681.
