UVSC Students Produce Benefit Concert

Students from Utah Valley State College will produce a benefit concert performed by Enoch Train November 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Northwest Middle School (1730 West 1700 North) in Salt Lake City. The concert will benefit the Worldwide Association of Performing Arts (WWAPA) that sponsors artistic exchange between the United States and foreign countries.

“We sense something unique and wonderful in the spirit of the faculty and students at UVSC,” said Clive Romney, founder of Enoch Train. “And so we are favorably disposed to any interaction with them.”

The Enoch Train project is for two multimedia classes at UVSC, digital broadcast and audio production. The students are in charge of directing the concert, running the cameras, recording the sound and editing. Last year students were able to perform these tasks for two other Enoch Train concerts.

“I am very impressed with their professionalism,” adds Romney. “I feel we would gain little if anything by hiring a professional crew.”

Concerts like these allow the multimedia communication technology department to accomplish its mission of preparing students for careers in digital media. The program also equips students with foundation theories and procedures to develop sound multi-communication structures

“These concerts allow us to gain valuable experience,” said Albert Mitchell, a junior from Lewiston, Utah majoring in multimedia communications. “I feel the true learning comes from experiences like these.”

Tickets may be purchased in advanced through Smithtix at 801-467-1055 for $10 or $12 at the door. All ticket and CD sales proceeds will be given to the WWAPA.
