International Women’s Day Concert to Benefit Kostroma Orphanage

The Utah Valley State College Office of International Affairs and the UVSC Russian Club are sponsoring a concert for International Women’s Day March 8 at 6 p.m. in the UVSC Ragan Theater. The concert will benefit the construction of a Kostroma orphanage.

“We’ve invited a wonderful array of performers to help in this worthy cause of saving Russian orphans,” said Maryna Storrs, coordinator of UVSC International Affairs. “The night is going to be a memorable celebration of hope, charity and service.”

Utah Regional Ballet, Brigham Young University international folk dance ensemble, Ludmila Gudina (a distinguished Russian piano player) and participants of UVSC 2004 Mr. and Mrs. International will perform. An international fashion show will follow the performances.

The concert will raise funds for the building of an orphanage in the outskirts of Kostroma, Russia. A group of UVSC students and volunteers will travel to Kostromo in May to assist in the construction of the orphanage.

Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for general admission and $3 for students.
