Utah Foundation Report Highlights

The Utah Foundation’s research report answering the question, “What is a Utah college degree worth?” gave the more than 24,000 students at Utah Valley State College something to look forward to after graduation.

• UVSC graduates are the highest paid bachelor degree recipients in the state, earning $40,000 or more their first year on the job. (See the Daily Herald’s opinion page cartoon below)
• Only 41 percent of the College’s graduates are making less then $30,000 a year.
• UVSC graduates lead the way in terms of employment with 83.9 percent of its graduates in the workforce and 78.4 percent employed full-time after graduation.
• UVSC graduates are among the most likely to stay in Utah (81 percent residents and 60 percent non-residents)

The Utah Foundation credits UVSC’s mission and educational focus for the results. UVSC students typically major in fields of study that translate into higher salaries like business, marketing, computer & information science and vocational studies.

“There is a deliberate intention at UVSC to have our students be professionally engaged,” said Brad Cook, vice president for academic affairs. “This study is a testimony to the quality of our students, faculty and programs.”
