Utah Valley State College joins the state, nation and world in mourning the passing of President Gordon B. Hinckley and in celebrating his life of service. In addition to his tremendous spiritual and humanitarian leadership, President Hinckley was very passionate about the pursuit of education. He frequently encouraged his followers to obtain as much education as possible and instituted the Perpetual Education Fund, which opened educational doors for thousands of young people from developing countries. His messages also frequently included the need for inclusiveness and extending open arms to all humankind. UVSC was proud to bestow Honorary Doctorate Degrees upon President Hinckley and his wife, Marjorie, in 2001. He always expressed appreciation for that honor and cared deeply about our students. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hinckley family.
